Have you recently moved into Wharfedale?

Do you want to form new friendships and discover what is going on in the local area?

'Carousel' was founded 9 years ago by a small group of women who were all new to the Ilkley. Since then, the group has grown considerably, and continues to welcome newcomers to this area.

Moving to a new area can be daunting, and it isn’t always easy to meet people. For others, who already live here, a change in circumstances may mean that you are now in a position to socialise more and would also like to meet new people. We would like to meet you!

Carousel organises a regular get together, once a month, on a Thursday evening, for a drink in a local wine bar or pub, and would like to invite other women to come and join us.

Some of us have been dipping in and out of Carousel for years, knowing that we’ll always be welcome. Our aim is to make everyone feel part of the group and enjoy the company of new – and old – faces. We’re very informal. There’s no membership, no agenda and no commitment required. You can come along every month or 'once in a blue moon'; have a quick drink or stay for an evening of wine… it’s very fluid, if you’ll pardon the pun.

We also arrange other things too: Recently, we've organised a meal out 'every season' for anyone who wants to come along, and it has been very popular. During the past couple of years we have enjoyed a few theatre visits, a country walk and met up at the various Ilkley Festivals. Different faces turn up for different things; whatever they fancy.

Please contact Mary at mary.carousel@gmail.com or Sue at sue.carousel@gmail.com if you would like to know more about Carousel or if you are interested in coming along so that someone can 'look out for you',  or just turn up on the night

    Book Club

Our Carousel Book group is very popular; meeting once a month at the Wheatley Arms in Ben Rhydding. If you are interested in joining this group please contact Books@carouselilkley.co.uk  in advance dates and times can be advised.
